International Club Continues Steady Improvement

The International ClubWhen Jack Davis assumed ownership of the International Club in Murrells Inlet in April 2006, he concurrently announced that his aim was a higher standard of excellence at the course that had been designed by the late Willard Byrd and opened at the turn of the century.

"We believe this course was built for golfers, period," Davis stated in 2006. "We want to make it one of the best places in Myrtle Beach to play. Being a golfer myself, I guarantee you will have a wonderful time once you decide to spend your day with us."

More than three years later, Davis is following through on his promise to make The International one of the favorite courses on the Grand Strand for players seeking good golf and good value.

Located just south of Myrtle Beach on International Boulevard, The International Club is known for its TifEagle Bermuda greens, which are considered both larger and quicker than average when compared to other putting surfaces on the Grand Strand.  When it opened in 2000, the course was one of the first at the beach to use the new TifEagle grass.

The International Club is nestled within a dense forest of trees, mainly a mixture of hardwoods and pines. Golfers will find that the layout features and abundance of water elements. Many holes are surrounded by crystal clear lakes and wetlands, which are fed by underground streams.

The International Club

Measuring a relatively modest 6,857 yards from the championship tees, The International can be challenging for the more advanced player, but playable for all skill levels if the appropriate tees are selected. Five sets of tees are available, including the whites which play more than 6,300 yards and are a popular pick.

The beautiful 154-yard, par-3 11th, the signature hole at The International, is the course's most recognizable scene with water and sand completely surrounding a massive green complex; it's short, but can be awfully challenging.

A course that's always in excellent shape, highly-regarded greens and superior scenery, plus a commitment to presenting the visiting and local golfer with the best possible product have all contributed to making The International Club one of the best values on the Grand Strand.

Golf Digest took notice to the improvement and playing conditions at the course, naming The International to its most recent "Best Places to Play" guide.

If you're unfamiliar with the layout, golf carts have been equipped with GPS systems that provide yardages to the front, center and back of the green from anywhere on the course.
