Rick TaylorRick Taylor, general manager and head golf professional of the Founders Club at Pawleys Island, has been honored by the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association as its “Employee of the Year.”

The Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association selected Taylor based on criteria established by the South Carolina Golf Course Owners Association that include exceptional quality of the course, exceptional quality of the management, outstanding contribution to the community and significant contribution to the game of golf.

“We are thrilled that Rick Taylor has been honored with this distinction,” said Tommy Smothers, general manager of Classic Golf Group, which owns and manages the Founders Club.

“Rick has been an integral member of our team and has made lasting contributions to our company. He is an asset to Classic Golf Group.” Taylor joined Classic Golf Group in 1993.

As general manager at Burning Ridge Golf Club, he was instrumental in guiding Burning Ridge in receiving the 2006 Myrtle Beach Golf Course of the Year and the South Carolina Golf Course of the Year. He has also played an integral role in promoting The First Tee program in Myrtle Beach, hosting junior golf clinics and charity golf tournaments throughout the year.
