Barefoot Resort and Golf's Love Course Will Re-Open June 1

Print E-mail

Barefoot Resort and GolfA little more than a month after The Love Course at Barefoot Resort & Golf closed because of damage to bridges linking different sections of the course, the highly-acclaimed layout will re-open to the public on June 1.

Initially, Barefoot Resort allowed public play on a modified 18-hole layout consisting of 14 holes on the Love Course and four on the Fazio Course. However, the decision was made to shut down both layouts until each could be returned to the quality and condition golfers have grown accustomed to.

The Fazio Course, which also suffered minor cosmetic damage to the course but was forced to close because of more serious damage to its bridges and surrounding areas, remains closed with no date for re-opening scheduled.

“We are very pleased with the condition of both the Love and Fazio courses and look forward to their reopening,” said Dave Genevro, general manager of Barefoot Resort & Golf. “The access bridge on Love Course has been restored and the Fazio bridges are in the process of being repaired. Both courses underwent aeration in early May so they are both in pristine condition and ready for golf.”

The Norman Course and Dye Club were unaffected by the fires and have remained open through the busy golf season.

Golfers and families heading to Myrtle Beach with reservations for The Barefoot Towers, operated by Premier Resorts, or any of Barefoot's multi-family homes shouldn't expect any changes in their arrangements. None of the aforementioned lodging areas were harmed by the fires.

Those heading out to hit the links that were booked to play either the Love or Fazio Courses in the coming days should contact their package provider, who will place them on another layout.

Golfers who booked rounds directly should contact the Barefoot pro shop, and the staff will find other available tee times.

Barefoot Resort and Golf, which opened all four of its courses simultaneously in 2000, is one of the most high-profile Myrtle Beach golf facilities.

Golf Digest has ranked three of the four layouts, Fazio, Dye and Love, among America's 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses.
