“Tidewater is one of the most recognizable golf venue names when it comes to superb quality and service, as evidenced by the national awards we have received since opening nearly two decades ago,” said Tidewater’s General Manager Chris Cooper. “One of our primary goals with this project was to build upon our well-established reputation and we are very pleased with what we were able to accomplish in only five weeks. These improvements will enhance the enjoyment derived by players for decades to come.” Turning what has been almost unanimously regarded as a woeful season for the golf industry into a positive, Tidewater capitalized on how affordable services and materials needed for the renovation were during our current recessionary times and decided to close for six weeks in order to complete the project. Economic factors notwithstanding, ownership’s decision to shut down the golf facility during the summer season demonstrates the importance placed upon course conditioning and golfer experience at Tidewater. As the fall/winter season begins, one of Myrtle Beach’s best that has previously been touted as the “Pebble Beach of the East” and named as one of “Americas 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses” by Golf Digest is expected to be better than ever. “We’ve had nothing but positive responses since re-opening and hopefully people will come and check us out,” he said. “Its not just the amount of work we’ve done in a matter of weeks, but the quality that will speak volumes about the commitment of our owner and management company We are truly blessed to have a team of employees who are totally dedicated to making Tidewater the “best of the beach.” “Loyal customers are obviously what we’re striving for, and our goal is to make a positive first impression with everyone. We want to make sure everyone experiences the utmost in customer service and course conditioning. I am confident that Tidewater will continue to keep up the same standards we’ve set as one of Myrtle Beach’s premier courses for a long time to come.”

As you stand on the 13th green at Tidewater Golf Club & Plantation, take a second to appreciate the unobstructed view of an Atlantic Ocean inlet that wasn’t as visible a few months ago. In early summer 2009, the grounds crew at Tidewater, led by Superintendent Shaun Donahue, embarked upon a minimally invasive yet important renovation project that would include everything from tee box reconstruction to tree trimming.
