Myrtle Beach’s Barefoot Golf Resort – Experience the Fantastic Four

Print E-mail

Casual on-site dining is available at Docksiders GrilleNorth Myrtle Beach’s Barefoot Golf Resort reflects the work of four remarkable golf mavens.

The first man is a two-time British Open champion who spent 331 weeks as the world’s number one ranked golfer in the 1980s and 1990s.

The second is one of the most recognizable names in golf course design who has received flattering awards from his peers and golf industry insiders that include the Old Tom Morris Award, the top award from American Society of Golf Course Architects, the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award and induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame.

The third has designed more than 120 courses and has more courses ranked among the top 100 in the United States than anyone else in the business.

Finally, the last man is also a Major Champion and has earned over $35 million on the PGA Tour.

Greg Norman, Pete Dye, Tom Fazio and Davis Love III are all legends in their own right and their unprecedented partnership has produced one of the finest golf destinations in the country – Barefoot Resort. Each man called upon his unique style, experience and abilities to build an 18-hole layout along the Carolina coast.

The best of the bunch is the Dye Course at Barefoot Resort, which was named one of the “Top 50 Courses in South Carolina” by the South Carolina Ratings Panel.

The Dye Course at Barefoot Resort

Bordering the natural white sands of the Carolina Bays, this visually stunning design is filled with the infamous pitfalls for wayward shots that have become synonymous with the Dye name. Both beautiful and treacherous, the Dye Course in an experience you won’t soon forget. The Dye Course is the only semi-private facility at Barefoot Resort.

The par-72 course measures just over 7,300 yards from the tips, has a rating of 75.3 and a slope of 149, making it a stern test for accomplished golfers. However, if played from the appropriate tees, players of all ability levels will be able to navigate the The Dye Course.

Highlighting the Norman design are seven holes along the Intracoastal Waterway.

Framed by stunning waste areas and natural vegetation, The Norman Course resembles one found in the deserts of the American Southwest, without the desert. The course plays to par of 72 and is approximately 7,200 yards long. It was designed with Norman’s philosophy that brings “bump and run” shots into play around the greens. This feature will give players plenty of shot making options.

The Fazio Course of Barefoot Resort

Located in the heart of Barefoot Resort, the The Fazio Course is a classic Lowcountry layout filled with live oaks, pines, sand, natural areas and native grasses. The strategic design incorporates extensive tree cover and many lakes into the landscaping. The course measures 6,834 yards from back tees and plays to a par of 71.

The Lowcountry’s own Love III embraces the tradition and characteristics that come to mind when one recalls golf in the Carolinas. His layout features recreated ruins of an old plantation home, wide-open fairways and generous landing areas. The Love Course is a par-72 and plays over 7,000 yards. The course will challenge the good player, yet provide playability and enjoyment for the average player.

Though unique in every on-course aspect, the Fazio, Love and Norman courses share a spacious, full-service and conveniently located clubhouse with all the amenities associated with championship golf, as well as an adjacent driving range and practice green.

The Love Course of Barefoot Resort

The semi-private 7,343 yard Dye Course features its own elegantly appointed clubhouse, the Golf Digest Instruction School and a full range of practice facilities. Both clubhouses include pro shops offering the finest equipment and merchandise, full-service restaurants and bars, comfortable lounges, locker rooms, cart barns and magnificent verandas wrapping the buildings.

As of June 2008, resort guests will have some new digs to sample in addition to the four championship golf facilities.

The new Lakeside Conference Center, located at Barefoot Resort celebrated its grand opening on May 30. The Lakeside Conference Center will bring a new and often-requested corporate convention and meeting venue to North Myrtle Beach. Offering over 17,000 square feet of luxury meeting space, the versatile conference center is also supported by state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment, complete food and beverage facilities, an inviting porte cochere entrance, lighted parking and peaceful lakeside views from large, multi-level verandas.

Nearby facilities include the luxurious Barefoot Resort Spa and fitness center and the 142-slip marina at the Barefoot Resort Yacht Club.

The new conference center and other facilities join the more than 300 condominiums already available at Barefoot Resort. The resort provides a variety of first-class amenities and accommodations for group and corporate functions, weddings and other social events. Accommodations range in size from one- to four-bedroom condominium suites and penthouse units, many of which include views overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway or one of the resort’s four championship courses.

Casual on-site dining is available at Docksiders Grille. Docksiders serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and features live entertainment on its patio Friday and Saturday nights in season. A unique open kitchen and bar combination makes for an interesting daily show as cooks and bartenders work in harmony. If you are looking for outdoor seating, Docksiders has lots of little areas to gather with family or friends for dinner or cocktails, not to mention our outdoor wood burning fireplace and fire pit which are lit nightly.

Barefoot Resort is located at 2200 Premier Resorts Blvd., on the west bank of the Intracoastal Waterway at mile marker 354. It’s just 15 minutes from the Myrtle Beach International Airport and directly across the waterway from popular Barefoot Landing, with its more than 100 shops, restaurants and theaters. The resort includes the largest saline pool in South Carolina as well as the famous foursome of golf courses.

Along with luxury accommodations and area attractions that also include the House of Blues and the Alabama Theatre, Barefoot Resort provides access to pristine beaches. The resort is located less than two miles from the Atlantic Ocean.
